Get Messy Thursday- The Preface
For this season of words (from the Get Messy Art Journal challenge) I am working in an altered copy of Mockingjay, the last book in The Hunger Games series.
This week the journaling prompts were for the first few pages of the book, for the preface. My preface is about who I am, as you can see on the first page below. I used a photo of myself I took in Colorado, gesso’ed over the book page and made a watercolor background.
On the second page (the purple page) I used a favorite quote as well as a photo I took on Sunday of the Super Blood Moon Eclipse. I’ve been hoarding that purple star paper for a couple of years now (I love it) and I finally decided to use it.

This page uses a quote I saw on pinterest and basically describes me- “I have less to say than I thought”.
I used a Gelli print circle and doodled around it with a GellyRoll pen.

This last page might very well be my favorite (my nerd is showing).
The Get Messy prompt said to use a favorite quote, so I used the quote “Fire is Catching.” from The Hunger Games and made it a themed page. I am working in the Mockingjay after all.

I painted the firey background with acrylic paints, as well as the Mockingjay symbol. The circles I actually drew on with a good ole Crayola crayon. I love crayons. I have the 152 set of them that includes metallic and glitter crayons. 😉

If you like to art journal and are not already a part of the Get Messy community I would recommend it! There is a small fee, but it’s totally worth it, for the fabulous prompts tutorial and the amazing, supportive community!
Alright, done promoting. How has your Thursday been?
