DIY Air Brushed Journal Cover

This week I’m sharing different projects I’ve made using both Hazel and Ruby products and the Craftwell Ebrush and this one is definitely my favorite!

I was given this simple brown vinyl journal and while I liked the feel of it it definitely needed a new look so that it would be brighter and happier. Now it’s like the color of cherry blossoms and I love it!

I actually started by giving my journal cover a pretty thick layer of gesso, to cover up the dark brown and to give it a nice texture. Then once that was dry, I used my Ebrush and a couple of Spectrum Noir markers to give it a light pink tint.

I used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Foliage Die Set to cut the leaves from Hazel and Ruby’s “Cut your own Stencil” material and then placed the leaves on top of my journal cover.

I didn’t have enough leaves to completely cover the journal (I could have cut more, but was feeling a bit lazy) so I Just worked in sections. I used a hot pink copic marker and sprayed over the stencils, then moved my stencils down to the next section of the journal and sprayed over that area.

This was such an easy journal restyle (The ebrush is a great way to add color!), but I seriously love the finished product. It’s so bright and it’s my favorite color!

Have you tried air brushing??
