A Zine/Mini Book for Vanessa

Today I have another art journal zine to share, I love doing these! It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme.

You can find the previous zines I’ve participated in here- Space, Sea, Bold, Vintage, Woodland, Spirit, Girl Boss,Goth, Imagination,Infinite Possibilities, Home.

The “Zine Squad” consists of 3 main members, Myself, Vanessa and Julia, and then we usually ask another art journaler or two to join us on gifting a zine to someone.

This time, We actually zined Vanessa, and we invited Lauren, Caylee and Torrie to join in! Vanessa is an archeologist, so we wanted this zine to go along with that theme and we used some of her self portraits here in the zine too.

The cover was a joint effort, I added the silver washi tape, because I liked the contrast it had with all of the gold.

This first page was half empty when the zine reached me. Julia had done the flap on the right side, so I decided to add a bit on the left. I brushed on some gesso and painted watercolors over top of it. Watercolors on gesso have such a neat effect.

I also added the Thoreau quote, and I believe Lauren added those lovely flower petals.

For my page in this zine, I did a galaxy. You could’ve guessed that, huh? I’m a bit predictable.

I usually do watercolor galaxies, but I used acrylic paint this time, so that’s mixing it up a little bit. 🙂

I found this quote on pinterest and I loved it. I think it goes a bit with the archaeology/dead theme. Hopefully.

The back cover: I added the star burst lines coming out of the heart.

This zine is just so very Vanessa!

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit the other’s blogs and see the rest of the zine, because their pages are amazing!
